The O'Hanlon B team recorded their first win of the season 4-2 away to Elm Mount.  This should greatly help in the battle to stave off relegation.

Christmas Blitz

Our first Christmas Blitz competition was run on 21st December. We had a large turnout in spite of the snowy weather including senior, junior and past members as well as parents of junior members.

P.C.Quinn provided a nice buffet to go with the mince pies. The event was a big success and should be repeated in future years.

Congratulations to our winner Amos Walsh and our best junior Cormac Graham.

Games were played over 20 minutes but were time-handicapped based on rating. For example players of equal rating got 10 minutes each. For a rating difference of 500, the stronger player got 2 minutes while the weaker player had 18 minutes. The time-handicapping appeared to work well with the top of the leaderboard showing players of different ratings. In particular, the junior members put up a strong showing.

Given the time of year, there were a lot of byes requested and given.  When this was combined with the 4-round format caused some difficulties.  Maybe some tweaking is necessary for next year.
