Rules
- All rules of chess apply, except where specifically amended by these rules.
- Where a player is not writing down his moves an illegal move loses immediately ( a move is made when a player lets go of the piece on its new square).
- Airidas and John Carroll choose the side the clock is on - Black choses otherwise.
- As per normal a move may not be begun until the opponent has completed his move (he need not have pressed the clock yet).
- The clocks must be operated by the hand that makes the move.
- To win the game on time, the player claiming the win must have sufficient material to checkmate his opponent, however unlikely the checkmate.
- During the game the clock must not be picked up by either player.
- Players who have brought a digital clock may use it if they so wish.
- Players can pause the clock for toilet breaks (optional) but opponent can continue to study the board.
